Hello. My name is Jon Pierce.
I'm a software developer and entrepreneur based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
I founded Betahouse, a coworking community for entrepreneurs, technologists and creatives.
I'm a founding member and trustee of The Awesome Foundation, a grassroots microphilanthropy collective which gives out monthly grants, no strings attached, to people doing awesome things in the world.
I can be found elsewhere on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Last.fm, Plancast, Upcoming, Delicious, Flickr, Foursquare, Gowalla, Brightkite, Dopplr, Yelp, Disqus, IntenseDebate, BackType and FriendFeed.
I love coworking, startups, indie music and movies, and Mets baseball. I do most of my development in Ruby, Python and JavaScript and dabble with many other technologies. I use a MacBook Pro, Linux servers and platforms like Amazon Web Services. I embrace open web standards like OpenID, OAuth and Microformats. I organize or help organize events like Music Hack Day, Open Government Hack Day, BarCamp Boston, DevHouse Boston and Jelly Talks.
